I’ve been getting quite a few emails lately from college students telling me that they want me to come to their schools for the launch of Perfect Fifths. Believe me, I would love to make the trip! College events are my favorite type of speaking gig. My appearances at Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Wellesley College, UCLA and The College of New Jersey (among others) rank among my all-time favorite career moments. I love visiting colleges, so I’m veeeeeery flexible in making such appearances possible.
I know from my web stats that there at least a few hundred college students reading this right now. (A special shout-out to all of you at Southern Methodist University…Are you reading my blog to complete a class requirement or something? I’m just curious…) If your campus organization–be it the official Activities Board, sorority, literary society, whatever–can cover my travel expenses (which, of course, will vary depending on location), throw in a T-shirt and a cold can of Diet Coke, it’s very likely that we can work something out. And if your club needs more convincing, check out the my events page for endorsements from campus reps. I am very entertaining. Seriously. If you request it, I will sing it. And in certain cases (for example, *NSYNC’s Bye, Bye, Bye) I have danced it.
(Oh, and on the subject of Songs I’ve Sung Just Because Someone Asked Me To, my recent appearance at my high school alma mater was recorded and is now showing every other hour on my hometown’s local cable channel, always preceeded with and followed by a video of my brother’s friend–it’s a small town, people…everyone knows everyone–a State Trooper who makes his entrance via helicopter. Anyway, I’m supposedly getting a DVD copy soon. At the very least I will post my rendition of “I Get a Kick Out of You.”)
And now I’ve got five pounds of potatoes to peel. Happy Thanksgiving!
