More after the jump!
This is it. Your last chance to win a signed Advanced Reader Copy of Perfect Fifths.
It does not spoil Perfect Fifths to reveal that one section consists of sixty senryu poems written back and forth between Jessica and Marcus while they wait out a transportation snafu. While a certain reviewer from a certain publication that rhymes with Snublisher’s Geekly thinks the all-haiku section does not do Perfect Fifths “any favors,” the reactions I’ve been getting from Advanced Readers have been just the opposite: THEY LOOOOOVE IT.
So to stick it to Snublisher’s Geekly and celebrate the fortieth Senryu Tuesday, I’m announcing The Perfect Fifths Jessi-ku/Mar-ku Contest. The rules are simple:
1. Write a senryu (haiku 5-7-5 syllables) poem for each book in the Jessica Darling series–Sloppy Firsts, Second Helpings, Charmed Thirds and Fourth Comings–AND a fifth poem expressing your feelings about the publication of Perfect Fifths on April 14th.
2. Post these poems AND the link to this (retro)blog entry explaining the rules of the contest on your blog/facebook/myspace/etc. by noon on Tuesday, March 17th.
3. Email me the link to your blog/facebook/myspace/etc. via megan@meganmccafferty.com with Perfect Fifths Jessi-ku/Mar-ku Contest as the subject. (Note to myspacers: If your setting is private, please include your poems in the email itself.) As before, I will choose THREE winners at random using the fickle shoebox of fate.
Now go get your poem on!
