The Ultimate Teen Book Guide

Between finishing Fourth Comings in February 2007 and starting the fifth and final (not the title, but it could be) Jessica Darling novel in 2008, I’ve kept myself busy by contributing to various books. Most of which should come out next year, but I just received a copy of The Ultimate Teen Book Guide: Including Raves and Reviews from Teens and Their Favorite Authors, which means it’s on sale now.

The title pretty much says it all. Get this book and you no longer have an excuse that there’s nothing to read. I wrote reviews for two of my favorite books…Pick it up and find out which ones…

I’m often asked when I knew I “had made it” as an author. Usually this question makes me laugh uncomfortably, like, “Who, me? What? Really?” But I must confess this: While it was flattering to be a part of this book at all, I was downwright floored to discover that my books had cracked the top 10 in some of the teen reader polls conducted by the Guide. The one that (seriously) made me a bit teary was seeing Jessica Darling ranked as one of the Top 10 CHARACTERS MOST LIKE YOU. She was on this list with the likes of Harry, Hermione and Ron, Tibby and Lena, and Klaus Baudelaire. I mean, wow. So it’s moments like that–seeing black and white evidence that so many teens can relate to this character that sprung from a combination of my observations and imagination–well, wow. I’m even less eloquent than I was when contemplating Jamie-Lynn Spears.

Just…Thank you.

(Oh, and a note to anyone in Hollywood: Sloppy Firsts ranked among the top 10 books that teens would like to be seen made into movies. SO GET ON IT ALREADY.)
